Meeting people when traveling is one of the things that makes it so enjoyable. Those experiences are even more rewarding when you make lasting contacts and can exchange photos of moments shared in exotic lands. The wonderfully tactile Moo MiniCard has become my handshake of choice when bonding with fellow travelers and chatting with locals. The MiniCard is like a business card, but it is more personal and elicits delight when handed out.

Moo, a UK based company, allows you to upload your own photographs and up to six lines of text on the reverse of the card. Before you know it you have 100 gorgeous calling cards that can’t wait to get out of your mailbox and into the hands of new friends. Moo’s website interface is very intuitive and allows you to choose the cropping of your photos to fit the card’s unique dimensions and a choice of fonts and colors to personalize your text. You can even include a logo or small picture on the back so people can put a face with a name. They come in packs of 100 for only $19.99 and you can choose one hundred different photos or make them all the same. Uploading is a snap and you can even sync your photos from various online websites including Flickr. Moo provides global shipping and has a host of other products as well. The MiniCard is a joy to hold and has a beautiful matte laminate finish. If you are not photo-inclined they even offer designs produced by a host of talented graphic artists.

Besides a way of exchanging contact information, MiniCards also serve as a portable photo album. While other travelers may enjoy seeing pictures of far-off places like Bhutan or Burma, local kids giggle in wonder at the Manhattan skyline or Big Ben. It is also interesting to see which photograph people choose when given a choice, but sometimes it is hard to part with them. Luckily, you can always order more and it provides a nice excuse to make prints of digital photos that usually reside only in cyberspace. Make your own MiniCards at www.moo.com

I love Moo Cards! I've been meaning to get real business cards for myself for more than a year, but I keep putting it off... because my Moo Cards are so much more fun.
