"Arriero" or shepherd. Tierra del Fuego.
The "arrieros" or shepherds of Tierra del Fuego live in one of the most remotes regions of the planet. A vast island that begins in the Magallanes strait, in front of the Punta Arenas city, and ends in the antartic chilean province. In Russfin (180 kms from "Porvenir", the main city of Tierra del Fuego), the day of this shepherds goes slowly. Always nostalgic about the family and the land of their birth, long time abandoned, to come here and work for a minimun wage. With different tasks every day and with no schedule, they always arrive on time at the dinning–kitchen room to eat the principal plate along all Tierra del Fuego: the lamb. This men (in Russfin lives only 3 women) share a little houses with no electric light, and no furniture, just a few chairs made with trunks. There, with light candles, they smokes longs cigarettes (brought from the argentinian border) and drinks bitters "mates" (a tipical herbal drink) before to sleep.
