In San Miguel de Allende, Mexico kids come out for the Western holiday of Halloween to get candy from locals and tourists. The next night, in Tzintzuntzan, high up in the mountains, families celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, a holiday which predates the arrival of Europeans to Mexico. There, the local families believe the beloved dead visit them for that one night out of the whole year. While families lay out feasts by the graves and reminisce, children come out to trick n' treat for money from tourists -- to the disapproval of their elders.
