Explorer Taos New Mexico and you will be amazed. The landscape, colors, and atmosphere will overwhelm you. A great laid back place to wander.

Rio Hondo River

We just pulled over while driving up the canyon to Taos Ski Valley resort.

Fly into Albuquerque (ABQ) and a short 2 hour drive north is Taos. At the half way point during the drive you are treated to beautiful Santa Fe. A city filled with art galleries, culture, great vibe, and the states' capital. Continue the drive north along the Rio Grande River to the town of Taos. "Taosenos," as they are called, are warm and welcoming people. The draw in the 1960's & 1970's to the pueblo/town of Taos was the laid back "free spirited" culture brought about by the hippie movement. This "open" attitude was welcoming for many artists and authors. Some of those who have spent time in Taos are Georgia O'Keeffe, D.H. Lawrence, and Ansel Adams. The local Taos Ski Valley is about 30 minutes north of town. The ski area is a large draw for visitors today. The atmosphere is relaxed, and friendly. It is a photographers dream. Everywhere you look there are beatuiful landscapes, interesting architecture, and culture. The contrasting bright trim colors of the buildings against the tan color of the adobe is wonderful. The Mabel Dodge Luhan House bed & Breakfast will give the true feel of the town. We were treated wonderfully there, and would recommend none higher. Taos is a wonderful place.
