Some things that I could only experience down the shore in Jersey.

Growing up in South Carolina, I had the opportunity to go to the beach often. I even went to the beach in different states, such as New York, Florida, and Texas. But I never went "Down the Shore" until I moved to New Jersey, and it's something everyone should experience at least once.

Being someone who loves food, going to a boardwalk was very enjoyable. I had my first taste of salt and vinegar fries, which are really tasty, and of deep fried oreos. Yeah, they sound gross, but an oreo dipped in funnel cake batter and fried, then topped with powdered sugar is divine. Plus there are safety foods for those less adventurous, such as pizza or hot dogs, even a cheese steak. So, taking the family down the shore to eat, there will always be something for everyone. It also makes a great place to take a date, because a walk on the beach at night is kinda of romantic.

There were plenty of games to test my skills at on the boardwalk as well. There are plenty of prizes to win to impress your kids, and or your significant other. I personaly favor the basketball ones, but there is something for everyone of every skill level. And if games like that are not your cup of tea, there is always the arcade.

If your belly isn't too full of great yummy calorie ridden food, there are the rides. The type of rides that many people find at traveling carnivals are available on the boardwalk all summer long. Kids and adults have fun going from ride to ride, screaming and laughing.

They even have parades down the boardwalk from time to time. One they have every fall in Seaside Heights, NJ is the clown parade. That truly is fun for everyone, unless you have a phobia of clowns of course. My five year old son participated in last years event, and had time of his life. He is already planning his costume for this year.

Then there are other events like the chess exhibition in Asbury Park, NJ. Chess masters will play up to ten people at one time, winning most of the games. It truly is something to see.

There are great beaches to go to in many different states, and they all have interesting and fun things to do. Even though all these other states have the beach, you can only go "down the shore" in New Jersey.
