Who says you have to be in Tokyo or Kyoto to catch a summer festival? No matter where you might be in Japan, there’s sure to be a local shrine nearby where you can enjoy the best of the festival season – the boom of fireworks, the rhythm of the Taiko, the glorious food! – without all of the crowds.
