Mui Ne, is a small fishing village famous for its fish sauce is the most beautiful stretch of beaches in Vietnam. It is only about 3 hours drive from Saigon and thus a popular vacation stop for Ho Chi Minh locals. As you walk down the beaches you will find the families preparing for the days fishing. The smiling locals here will treat you like family. Just outside of town you find the enormous red sand dunes, the trademark and most famous landmark of Mui Ne. Try your hand and sandboarding down these red giants and you are sure to end up with a huge smile on your face, shortly followed by a mouthful of sand. Stay a bit longer in the late afternoon and you will find everyone there to watch the sunset descend over the horizon, turning the red sand into its most vibrant shade. If surfing the sand isn't your thing, there is also great surfing and windsurfing out in the adjacent warm ocean waters. Spend a few dollars and rent a scooter for the day and explore the beautiful surroundings. Make sure you wake up early the next morning and watch the fishing port come to life in the early morning hours. This is the best way to see how real Vietnamese life happens. It takes you back to another time.
