Hiking between Bergün and Preda in Graubünden beside The Glacier Express.

The Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz (or Davos Platz [Summer only]) in Switzerland is one of the great train journeys in the world. The trip on the Glacier Express is a 7½ hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres in altitude.

Not an "express" in being a high-speed train but rather it provides a one-seat ride from end to end, even though the train travels over several different railroad lines; reputedly it is the slowest "express" in the world.

Part of the rail route runs between the towns of Bergün and Preda in the canton of Graubünden. In the winter Switzerland's longest toboggan course is the fastest way to travel between Preda and Bergün. In the summer a more leisurely rout can be had hiking between the towns of Bergün and Preda under and around the many rail viaducts that wined up the valley.

A beautiful hike up to Preda and relaxing train ride down, to Bergün (or vice versa), can be a highlight of a trip in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
