The great Egrets live in Baylands park spring through fall. They are beautiful birds.
Next to the Palo Alto Duck Pond you will see a stand of palm trees that are the home of many nesting Snowy Egrets in the spring. You will also find great heons, night herons and other shore birds.
Many people were up early to enjoy the cool desert morning when I visited he Sabino Canyon Recreation Area in March. The Brittlebush were in full bloom and the saguaro cactus were swollen from winter rains.
The trails through the park provide beautiful views of the mountains of the Coronado National Forest and the native saguaro cactus, pricily pear cactus and ocotillo.
I found this little waterfall in a beautiful redwood canyon in Limekiln State Park. You can camp there, but make your reservation early, probably January. There are also campsites right next to the ocean, but the setting is dusty. This park is pretty far from civilization, but right on Highway One if you are traveling down the coast. Spring and Fall are less likely to be foggy.
