This is Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park. Even though its June, there is still snow on the ground this high up in the Rockies. the lake is very cold and they haven't yet put out the floating docks.
A blackbear, on the side of the road, in Waterton Lakes National Park. He was happily munching dandelions oblivious to the road jam that he was causing. I could have reached out my arm and patted him if I wasn't so respectful of furry nature. (I really, really, really wanted to...)
Taken from the shore of the village in Waterton Lakes National Park. Arguably, one of the most beautiful parks in Canada. This park meets Glacier National Park in the US at the 49th parallel.
Fay Wray lived in Cardston, Alberta. the town has erected this sign, a very sad fountain and some heavily graffitied didactic panels. The sign was the best part.
A windy and cloudy day in Southern Alberta. These massive windmills seemed to be beating and churning the clouds.
Lethbridge is home to the world's largest wind gauge. Unfortunately, the pendulum is welded permanently in the gale force wind position. So its accurate 90% of the time.
While snapping this picture in the rain, a gentleman in a pick-up pulled up and asked if we liked the putter. We said that we did indeed like it. It turned out that he lovingly created it - in exactly 10:1 scale. I wonder if he routinely patrols Hwy#3 in Bow Island to talk to tourists. I hope so.
The water tower in Bow Island has been lovingly crafted to resemble a bean pot. Perhaps, this is what Pinto MacBean is protecting?
Regardless, of the weather, Pinto MacBean always smiles at weary drivers.
East of Taber, in Bow Island, but still on Hwy #3, stands Pinto MacBean - protector of the pinto beans.

I am a media artist living in the wilds of Southern Alberta. I hope to one day write and illustrate a Hipper Guide to Alberta. And maybe the other provinces as well.
