Yak butter tea and gou-ri (deep fried bread) as on the table as soon as you walk into a tibetan nomads house. Be it the home of a friend, family or a complete stranger you will always be ushered in, sat down, and serverd a honoured guests, sheltered from the harsh wind and cold outside.
Though that doesnt mean that you will really want to drink the tea, its, well, an aquired taste...
The view from the window of Taakahimen as the sun sets over the fjord below
This hut sits next to teh svartesen Glacier and is available for use to everyone for a small fee. It is 1400m above the sea though and you must hike in.
In what appears to be a frozen wasteland lies an oasis of life. A hotspring bubbling to the surface in the platues of tibet, 3900m above the sea. The brightly clothed women of Wen Chun (a small bus stop town) frequently visit these spring to clean their clothes.
These flags stand as a totem of faith and devotion amongst the tibetten people.
Seen from frozen surface of the largest lake in China you cannot help but admire and marvel at the faith of these people.
Though this is reminiscent of the south west tasmanian mountain ranges in Australia this is infact North Norway at its most beautiful, razor ridge lines and sharp peaks that run down into the sea. Great for a quick autumn day hike.
The harsh draining hike to the top is well worth it when you look back over the fjords that sprawl beneath you.
the view from teh Troll that overlooks the small town of engavaagen. During the winter the sun fights to pop its head above the horizon but never really manages to make it. This was taken at 1pm in the arfternoon as the sun begun its downward journey
Climb to the top and walk to the edge and stretch out your arms, lean in and let the wind carry you. Before you are the mountain islands of Nordland (north Norway) scattered amongst one of the many fjords. Within your mind only the screaming of the rushing wind that holds you up.
You are alone and the world is seemingly untouched below you, yours for the taking.

I am travelling in europe, have left China behind me and heading to africa. It's a crazy journey. Photography is my passion, even if its a new found one. I love to meet new people and get to know where their lives have taken them and where they're leading. If our paths are to cross one day I'm sure a coffee and a chat would be in order.
