The Kairouan Souk

The Kairouan Souk

A must see on any stop in Kairouan once you have visited the great Mosque. A winding mass of shops all layed out with great intent, the most prestigious shops closer to the centre, rugs, jewlery and gold, with more regular shops on the outer limits. A network of small twisting alleyways ensured that criminals would have a hard time getting out in a hurry.

Yak butter tea and gou-ri

Yak butter tea and gou-ri

Yak butter tea and gou-ri (deep fried bread) as on the table as soon as you walk into a tibetan nomads house. Be it the home of a friend, family or a complete stranger you will always be ushered in, sat down, and serverd a honoured guests, sheltered from the harsh wind and cold outside.
Though that doesnt mean that you will really want to drink the tea, its, well, an aquired taste...

I am travelling in europe, have left China behind me and heading to africa. It's a crazy journey. Photography is my passion, even if its a new found one. I love to meet new people and get to know where their lives have taken them and where they're leading. If our paths are to cross one day I'm sure a coffee and a chat would be in order.
