Distances in Patagonia are enormous. Between El Chalten, the small village at the feet of the Fitz Roy Range and El Calafate, the city where the National Park main offices are located there's a distance of 250 km. All that area is included in "Los Glaciares" NP.
In 2007 the local government finally paved the road. Before that it was a bumpy road to the peaks...
