Wildman's Civil War Surplus is run by self-styled racist Dent "Wildman" Myers, born in 1930. He sells Civil War relics, political books, medicinal herbs, Confederate flags, White Power CDs and more of the like. In the back of the store is a small Civil War/White Supremacist/Weaponry museum, complete with an antique Ku Klux Klan uniform--bearing blood stains, a hood and a noose. Meyers admittedly hates gays, blacks, Jews, and immigrants, but he does so equally. Meyers has a loaded .45 holstered on each hip at all times.
However, all are allowed entry into his shop.
This way to the Astrophysics lab...

A police officer & food worker in a heated debate about--what else?--Lebanon's political future. The green painting on the wall is the symbol for the Amal Movement, a militant Shi'a Muslim political party (and notable force in the Lebanese Civil War). Shot two-weeks before Lebanese President Lahoud left office, leaving the country leaderless.
UPDATE [May 2008]: Recent fighting that erupted in Beirut centered around Hamra, as it has in the past.

Tilt-Shift view of the ancient port city of Byblos (Jbeil), Lebanon. Viewed from the roof of the Crusader-era fortress overlooking the lucrative port (Mediterranean Sea).
Byblos was THE city of the Phoenician Empire (credited with the creation of the modern alphabet), and where our modern English words for "Bible" & Bibliography" are derived from. Considered one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, continually inhabited cities in the World.

We left Beirut (for CDG Paris) on a redeye MEA flight...this was the sunrise midair. The engine (foreground) has a red cast from the plane's red night-lights, still visible since the sun had not risen fully.
