Brandt’s travelogue

Tampa Theatre

Tampa Theatre

Located in dowtown Tampa, this historic landmark has become home to many independent film showcasings and the annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The theatre is also known for playing many landmark Foreign Film features such as Amelie and Run Lola Run. The historic decor of the interior, with an intermission pipe organ player who rises from the stage floor to entertain, and a star lit nightscape ceiling panorama, give a feel to the movie goer of stepping into the past, if only for the length of a regular movie showing.

Clearwater Bridge

Clearwater Bridge

To the left, the new bridge; a monstrous structure. To the right, the remains of the old bridge. Just as any constantly growing metropolitan area, this bridge, both old and new structures, is evidence of the changes to come.

Space Needle, Monorail, and EMP/SFM building

Space Needle, Monorail, and EMP/SFM building

The Seattle Center, home of the 1960's World Fair, which launched the famous Space Needle landmark and ever troublesome monorail system, is one of the most visited attractions in Seattle for locals and tourists alike. What is witnessed here is an ever complicated and "open to interpretation" glimpse into an envisioned future of prosperity and innovation. On the other hand, this eye-catching array of attractions makes for a nice picnic and photo op for the photographer and nature lover at heart. Be sure to spend a day of exploring inside the Science Fiction Museum and Experience Music Project.
