This is a view of Rodney Bay taken from Fort Rodney on Pigeon Island National Park. Sandals Grande resort is seen with the red roofs. The resort is located on an peninsula between the Caribbean Sea on the right and the Atlantic Ocean on the left.
Atlantic waves crashing beneath the large cliffs of Fort Rodney.
Tall grasses along the steep cliffs of Fort Rodney were blowing gently with the Caribbean breeze. There was a nice contrast between the dry, yellow grass, and the bright blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. The island of St. Lucia is seen in the distance.
This is a view of Pigeon Point taken from Fort Rodney on Pigeon Island National Park. You can follow the grass hill all the way to the top to find a view of the Atlantic Ocean with Martinique in the distance.
This image was taken on Pigeon Island at sunset. This beach is part of a national park. You can pay a $5 US Dollar fee to hike and climb throughout the park, as well as enjoy this lovely beach on Rodney Bay. I especially enjoyed the sea grasses growing out of the sand, they seemed to be whistling in the wind.
The Cock Robin is one of the fishing boats taken out into the Atlantic to catch stripers. For you non-fishing types like myself, stripers are bluefish. These boats were directly behind Spike's Fishmarket and Restaurant. Can't get much fresher than this!
A landmark in Point Pleasant, NJ. Spike's Fishmarket and Restaurant is known for the freshest seafood taken off the boats 50 yards away and directly on to your plate or in a bag to take home. This place has been feeding hungry seaside tourists and locals alike for many years. My boyfriend and I picked up some littleneck clams, they were delicious!
This image reminds me of hot, summer days on the boardwalk as a child. Running from the beach in bare feet on the hot sand, trying to get to a patch of shade as quickly as possible so the bottoms of your feel don't burn. Ice cream or an ice cold lemonade would be the perfect treat to cool you off. Even though it was only 20 degrees this day, the sun gives the impression of a very hot day.
A very, very cold and windy December morning on the boardwalk in Point Pleasabt Beach, NJ. Despite the weather, the off season is my favorite time to visit boardwalks along the east coast.
