How two amateur hikers trekked a set itinerary for seven days through all kinds of weather--sun, hail, wind, rain and snow--and how perseverance and pure luck got us out of the mountains.
On our way back down the last leg of our seven-day hike, the trail was covered by something uncharacteristic in September, even in the mountains of the Pyrenees.
We arrived ahead of schedule in the Ventosa Refuge but oh, what is that we see for our hike tomorrow?
There were plenty of challenges along the way
We got lost in the rain for an extra 3 hours because there was water everywhere, erasing the trails.
A miserable day for hiking--my partner and his pack barely visible in the fog ahead of me.
The refuge was held down by giant metal cables. While we slept, the wind violently blew.
From where I shot this view, we had to hold on to keep the wind from blowing us away.
