Sedona… brings to mind ley lines and the vibrations of the earth…. It is also a Mecca for artsy types and can be pretty darned crowded most of the time. Looking for a quiet place to have a picnic lunch, we drove out to Red Rock State Park. We were not disappointed. Beautiful huge oak trees and few other cars, it was the perfect place to enjoy the vibrations of the land. This is a photo of one of the oaks that grace this beautiful park.

Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park

I was unprepared for the absolute beauty of this park. We added this destination at the end of already long vacation and only budgeted an afternoon. We will certainly return when we have more time to do it justice. I think what I loved most, was the feeling of solitude here. This park is so out of the way, the throngs of visitors just aren’t here and it feels very intimate, even with the vastness that surrouds you.

Vandals have broken her arm. Unfortunate, but it somehow adds to her mystery and allure.

"Oh I've been traveling on a boat and a plane
In a car on a bike with a bus and a train
Traveling there and traveling here
Everywhere in every gear

But oh Lord we pay the price with the
Spin of a wheel - with the roll of the dice
Ah yeah you pay your fare
And if you don't know where you're going
Any road will take you there" g. harrison
