Another shot of the Cruiser's Cafe from the outside. As you can see, it does resemble the 1930s filling station it is housed in. This is in Williams, AZ along historic Route 66, which is the gateway to the Grand Canyon.

A Visitor's First View
A lifetime dream was made reality when I finally made it to the finest of canyons and Grand Canyon National Park. This is the very first picture I took, at Mather Point, the first stop on the South Rim. Hundreds of pictures later I was still in awe of its grand beauty and ruggedness.

Grand Canyon Views
The Grand Canyon is a vast and beautiful place and to stand at its edge, you feel as if you are standing at the edge of the Earth. The contrasting views of the natural rock structure in the foreground with the red colors of the canyon in the background, with the blue sky with almost no clouds makes for a picture perfect aftertoon.

Designated Pet Areas
A growing trend for rest areas is to have a separate area for Pet Walking and have signage to depict it. This was true of the Mohawk Rest area off of 1-17 in Arizona. The designated pet areas are away from the main traffic of a rest area, and are likely that way to prevent the human areas to be contaminated with the smell of the pet areas. It is key on a road trip to abide by these signs.

Grand Canyon with Woman's Best Friend
My dog Kita and I at the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park. You just need someone to take a photo for you in order to make these shots work, or you will be like my other shots, trying to take a picture while holding onto the leash at the same time.

Queen of the Canyon
This is my dog Kita sitting on the wall of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I found parts of the park that were dog friendly and enjoyable. Travelling with her was a delight and I will happily do it again.

Outdoor Dining with Doggie
I have found that many restaurants nowadays will allow you to dine in their outdoor areas with your dog as long as they are well behaved, leashed and don't bother other patrons. I have a leash for my dog that has an attachment on the other end to secure a dog to something as well, so you don't have to worry about holding onto her while trying to eat yourself. It's always best to ask first, though, just to make sure of each places' policies.
