Pull off the scenic stretch of California's Highway 1 near Piedras Blancas, just north of San Simeon, and you may find yourself standing a few feet away from a few hundred of these enormous seals. But, stay on the designated board walk--males can weigh up to two and half tons and are known to be bit cranky. The animals spend most of their lives at sea, but come ashore each winter to breed. Who needs the Discovery Channel when you can step our of your car and see this?
The beaches in Oregon are unique. Especially at low tide, the wide, flat sand seems to stretch on forever. In Oceanside, Oregon, it often feels like you can walk right out to the bird refuge on these rocks.
Street food vendors are everywhere in India, but in New Delhi some offer these amazing fried-on-order potatoes. Potato cubes are fried to a golden crisp in peanut oil and sprinkled with sea salt and lime juice. So simple, yet so satisfying. Divine!

I am aspiring to something more; I just haven't decided exactly what. I live in Portland, but I'm always looking for a way to see more of the world. I like to explore, write, read, take photographs, bake, listen to bluegrass and have picnics with red wine in plastic goblets. I love to learn new languages and read the international news.
