Alexis’ travelogue

Tartine Bakery

Small batch pastries using local ingredients and seasonal flavors - That's what keeps people lining up around the block at the French-styled Tartine Bakery. The San Francisco favorite has been installed at the corner of 18th and Guerrero since only 2002, but you'd think it's been there much longer for the feverish loyalty it inspires.

Pambiche

Pambiche offers delicious Cuban dishes, from appetizers, Cuban sandwiches and basic moros y cristianos (black beans cooked with rice), to the satisfying Plato Cubano (pork, beans, fried yucca and cabbage salad). But dinner is just the beginning.

Street Food: Fried Potatoes

It took about two and a half weeks before I felt adventurous enough to eat food off the street in India, and when I finally did I was in for a treat. Start by finding a stand busy with locals and shimmy up to the front, then just point to whatever looks good.

Alexis Harmon

Alexis Harmon has been a member since 11 May 2008 and goes by pdxalexis.

Currently in Portland, Oregon.

I am aspiring to something more; I just haven't decided exactly what. I live in Portland, but I'm always looking for a way to see more of the world. I like to explore, write, read, take photographs, bake, listen to bluegrass and have picnics with red wine in plastic goblets. I love to learn new languages and read the international news.
