Liquid Sky is a delightfully hallucinogenic structure that defies the surrounding urban landscape from the courtyard of the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City. Housed in a former New York City public school (hence the P.S.) the art center makes creative use of its grounds with a series of highly anticipated outdoor summer parties called Warm Up. Each year, revelers dance under and around a new installation by an emerging talent chosen from submissions to the Young Architects Program. The pink Seussian peaks of Liquid Sky were dreamed up by the firm Ball-Nogues, winners of the 2007 competition.
