It was about 3500 years ago, when the volcano in the isle of Santorini blew everything away in a big blast, leaving nothing but a hole, filled with the deep blue Aegean sea. Humans soon settled again on the ruins of the ancient explosion, and today the island has become a popular tourist attraction, for its fantastic beaches and unforgettable views. But the little smoke signs and the sulphur smell are there to remind the little earthlings that the volcano is still there .... ready to return !!
Housings dug in tufa stone in the area around Goreme, Cappadocia
Tourists wandering through the amazing limestone pools of Pamukkale at sunset. It is a strange feeling indeed to walk across the white, sandy, mud-like, lukewarm substance... an experience you can't miss !
Famous landmark at the entrance of the port, in the city of Naxos (Greece - Cyclades Islands).
Tourists and wannabe photographers crowd around here at sunset time, in their quest for the "perfect moment", when the sun fades at the horizon behind the gate ... could it be some kind of cosmic alignment ?
The baobab alley near Morondava; an amazing place indeed ! Imagine a tree-lined boulevard right in the middle of nowhere. But the people there look happy, in harmony with the surrounding nature. They don't seem to care for what is around; they are not worried about what they have or what they do not have. I believe that we still have something to learn from them !
