A great place to spend the day lounging under the shade of the banyan tree and an even better location to watch sunset from.

The Pimalai tumbles down through virgin rainforest to a soft golden beach. Its hillside villas and pool command views of the entire bay and the beachfront suites are steps from the emerald waters surrounding Koh Lanta.

View from our hotel room in Patagonia

When not hiking across the rugged landscape of Patagonia, the cozy rooms of the Hotel Explora in Torres del Paine National Park afforded spectacular views. Only the pounding wind against the window reminded us it was not a painting. A day's hike could take you from Guanaco (Chilean llamas) filled valleys to glacier footed peaks and through four different seasons. Returning to the outdoor hot tubs of Explora and included gourmet meals paired with free flowing Chilean wines would always recharge us for the next day's adventures…and of course the view from the room always beckoned…

Riding in Torres del Paine

Hotel Explora has a full stable and offers riding for beginners and experts. While we were there, one lady did nothing but gallop across the hills the entire time.

This guanaco, a type of llama, was kind enough to pose in front of the massive granite towers known as the Torres del Paine.
