Mount Ngauruhoe is one of the many active volcanoes you will see on the Tongariro Crossing hike.
Tongariro National Park in New Zealand has 3 gorgeous emerald lakes that would be positively inviting if it were not for their volcanic sulfur bouquet.

Movie buffs will recognize Mount Ngauruhoe as Mordor's Mt Doom and there are also emerald lakes and hot sulphur springs. Bring a walking stick for the long downhill!
