I have visited five of the seven continents, been high and low, seen this, that and the other thing. And when people ask me my favorite place in all the world, I tell them Maine. It's the air, the water, the food, the light, and people. I have been returning to Maine for thirty years, since guiding the Alagash as a young man, and I never tire of the place.
