Photo: Reunification Buddha

A short walk from the central Donghwasa complex stands the Reunification Buddha. This statue (allegedly the largest stone standing Buddha in Asia) was constructed in the 1980s to commemorate the reunification of the two Koreas. Obviously this was jumping the gun!
