Tubing in Vang Viang

Tubing in Vang Viang is one of the most popular activities for backpackers in Laos. The rules are simple. Sit and relax on your tube, stop at every pitstop (to get your Beer Lao, a shot of strong Lao Lao and a free jump in the river from the handmade wooden installations) and go as slowly as possible. The 4km ride down the river might take you the day. Be careful though, when the current is stronger during the rainy season, the river can be deadly, especially at night or if you are not sober.
