Touring Bagan's temples by horse cart at dusk is truly magical. You can climb up to the top of many of them and watch as the sun dips behind the Irrawwady river and casts a purple glow over this plain of two thousand plus temples. If you go during the hot season you will have the temples almost to yourself, but in the cooler months you can take a balloon ride to revel in the scope of what centuries of kings in search of karmic merit can create.
This scene truly looks magical. The colour makes it look like a painting from the past. So nice to see a place without wires, posts, signs and cars. A fav for me.
