This is from the Rose Test Center at Washington Park, in Portland. As I shoot it I cannot help thinking about the root of the Latin word for our genitals: pudere, which means to be ashamed of or to be modest about, from which we get the term pudenda.
Up in the hills of east Portland, the gardens are called the International Rose Test Center and consist of thousands of color combinations and petal types, roses galore. Even in November, the roses are fighting for survival, losing petals maybe, some of them scorched by summer's sunshine, but still braving the breeze and rains.
