Dark, ominous clouds over the Coral Sea, near Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia.
If mere mention of the Coral Sea conjures up visions of turquoise waters, coral lagoons and endless Queensland beaches, that's mostly right. But like the adjacent Tasman Sea, it also has a dark and moody side - and some coastal areas are populated by sharks and deadly box jellyfish. For fewer nasties - and fewer tourists - visit in winter: The Coral Sea maintains a pleasant temperature all year round.
