The largest Pakistani guard strutting his stuff at the border's evening flag lowering ceremony.
Only one border crossing exists between Pakistan and India. Every evening the two country's flags are lowered as part of an elaborate choreographed ceremony in which uniformed guards from both counties try to out march, stomp and grunt the other. It's become such a show that grandstands fill daily with patriotic citizens cheering on their guards while chanting national slogans. Careful attention is paid when the flags are finally lowered to ensure their equal height. Upon completion of the ceremony, two guards from the opposing sides briefly shake hands before the gates are slammed shut and the border is closed for another night.
