the Cliffhouse

the Cliffhouse

A young couple embraces as the last rays of the sun hit the cliffhouse and the fog begins to roll in.

About this place:

The Cliff House is the fourth incarnation of a building that was originally built in 1863. It has been destroyed twice by fire and in its history presidents and prominent families have been guests there. It has a great views of the ocean, sea lions resting on rock outcroppings, and the old Sutro Baths. Oh yes and they serve great food!

The Cliff House used to be a total tourist trap, but since they renovated the place a few years ago -- restoring much of its historic charm in the process -- it's become much more fun to visit. Even for locals! Mercifiully, the Camera Obscura is still located here as well, and it's always worth a peek.
