The gate leads to the beautiful garden. The dome tops a mausoleum, but Tamerlane is actually buried in the crypt below.

Tamerlane's tomb, the Gur-e Amir (tomb of the king), is one of several interesting sights in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is topped by a beautiful green dome, and surrounded by restful gardens. Tamerlane, also known as Timur, was a great conqueror of the 14th Century.
