Piso Firme is a small village on the edge of the National Park Noel Kempf Mercado in Bolivia. Noel Kempf Mercado is a National Park which is part of the greatest (inter)National Park in the world, the Amazone.

Pink freshwater dolphins, river otters, turtoises, tapirs, several cat-species and ziljions insects

In Piso Firme there is just electricity from dusk till ten o'clock in the evening; there is one small shop where they bake bread; and all the animals, dogs, pigs, horses and cows walk around freely.

    One thing Piso Firme does have is a dancing. Together with Santa Cruz students who are here for research I go out to dance. It's an open bar with a dance floor. Behind the bar there is a real DJ. He is not very fast with changing records and therefore there are long silences between every song. When the music starts again couples go to the dance floor to dance. It isn't an elegant Salsa or Samba they dance but a simple high school version of that. Not so beautiful to watch but easier for me to participate.
