About this place:

Kitsilano is a residential area close to the downtown core of Vancouver.
Kitsilano (Kits) is bounded on the north by the waters of English Bay, on the South by 16th Ave, and by Alma and Burrard Streets on the west and east. In the 60's, Kitsilano's Fourth Avenue was the equivalent of San Francisco's famous Haight-Ashbury district. Kits remains vitally unique today, both as a residential as well as desirable shopping and dining area that is close to the downtown core. The neighbourhood is a cross blend of apartment complexes, older heritage homes and quiet residential streets. The neighbourhoods surrounding Kitsilano are West Point Grey to the west, Dunbar-Southlands to the south-west, Arbutus Ridge & Shaughnessy to the south and Fairview to the east.
Popular shopping areas:
The 4th Avenue area stretching from the Granville Street Bridge (East) 9 blocks to Larch Street (West)
Fir Street, at the eastern end, is also one of the entrances to the Granville Island area.
Yew Street, opposite Kitsilano Beach.
The South Granville area stretching from the Granville Bridge south to 16th Avenue.
Broadway, which is also a main cross-city driving route, has shops all along its length.
