The Classical exterior of the New York Stock Exchange had an enormous American flag added after the September 11th attacks on the city.

The NYSE lists 2,764 securities worth a combined capitalization of over US$25 trillion. It was started in 1792 by a group of 24 stock brokers under a tree on Wall Street. Since 2006, three trading floors within the building have been closed due to the increased amount of electronic trading.
