About this place:

Rocks State Park is located in Jarrettsville, MD and there are great natural, dense wooded hiking trails, a wonderful waterfall, and a 190-foot rock outcrop called The King and Queen Seat. The movie 'Tuck Everlasting' was filmed in this park and features all of the aforementioned attributes to the area.

The waterfall (Kilgore Falls) in the Falling Branch section of the park is Maryland's second highest vertical drop waterfall. When it is warmer outside, it is common to find people swimming around and under the falls for a truly unique experience.

The tall rock outcrops are great for rock climbers with some experience. There are many vertical rock faces on the rocks, with some being as high as 94 feet.

The park is a wonderful day trip and the rocks are especially beautiful in the fall with the changing colours in the trees.

I go up to Rocks State Park on occasion to climb the rocks and visit the waterfall. My favorite time to visit is in the summer or fall. If you visit during the summer, be sure to bring a bathing suit because there's nothing as special about swimming in the river and going under the waterfall. In the fall, be sure to check ou the King and Queen Seat. It's a large rock formation with such spectacular views of the untouched trees and dense forest below. Expect to spend the day there to take in the full splendor.
