Place to eat: Bankerat, Copenhagen, Denmark

Maitre d'?

A stuffed bear dressed as a waiter greets guests at Bankerat in Copenhagen.

About this place:

The name means "bankrupt" in Danish, but Bankerat is a vibrant bar/cafe that serves hearty and tasty food. The big draw is the the bohemian crowd, the lively atmosphere, and the bizarre decor — the place is home to several taxidemy-style animals created by Copenhagen artist Filip Jensen that are dressed and posed in human clothes. When you first walk in the door, you're greeted by a stuffed bear in a waiter's uniform. Spooky!
