This is a Small village that we by chance discovered on our trip to Thailand. In Bangkok, we heard the story of the Mon people. The original tribe who brought Buddhism from India to this part of the world, who had settled in Burma and were now under severe persecution from the Burmese government and forced to live in small hill settlements and refugee camps. The exception was a small village in Kanchanaburi where Mon people had settled almost 50 years ago with the permission of the Thai government. This is there haven, a sanctuary for many and the place of the Mon government, human rights centre, cultural centre and militia.
We had to visit this place. And so were on a bus the next morning. 12 hours later we were there. This incredible place full of culture and peace and the friendliest people. Each with an amazing story and each fighting for the survival of their people.
It's good to be here
