Standing on the rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, I felt mighty and powerful like a goddess as if I had created this wonder. The canyon is so steep and the opening so narrow in places that it seems more like a crack in the sidewalk than it feels like any other canyon. The green shades of the Gunnison River flowing through the bottom and the fact that very little light penetrates inside make it eerie and other-worldly as if one was glimpsing into the bowels of hell.
