Flamingos on Parade

Flamingos on Parade

Open in May 2008, the Seattle Woodland Park Zoo’s new exhibit shows off over two dozen pink Chilean flamingos. When they flock together, which they seem always to do, they are a dazzling display – first heads all tucked down for a rest, then, as if on cue, all marching to and fro tapping out a complex and energetic choreography.

About this place:

The Woodland Park Zoo, located northwest of downtown, has been a Seattle landmark since 1899. It features a wide variety of naturalistic exhibits representing different parts of the world. See an African village at the edge of a large African Savanna, an elephant forest and trail of vines in Tropical Asia, wallabies in Australasi, gorillas and jaguars in the Tropical Rain Forest, and Asian cranes in the Temperate Forest. A family farm and the indoor Zoomazium are favorites for zids. Also check out classes and special events, including evening concerts, on the web site.
