About this place:

The newest franchise location of the famous Original Soupman restaurant is in Raleigh, NC 27609. It is located at 6325 Falls of Neuse Road, an easy location to find from the Raleigh-Durham Airport or from the business area of the city. In addition to the famed lobster bisque soup, there is a rotating menu of 50 classic soups. You can also order salads, rice bowls, sandwiches or paninis to take out or eat in. The owner, Al Yeganev, is known for his curt and sometimes rude behavior towards customers who are indecisive or hold up his line for more than seven seconds. His 'customer is always wrong' attitude was made famous on a 1995 episode of Seinfeld.

All this and the Big Apple too? Visiting the newest Original Soupman franchise reveals our Southern proximity to major action. Newspaper articles on the wall boldly promise that going to the original NYC storefront for soup was "the ultimate New York experience." Other articles posted (conveniently) said that now when you go to NYC, the must-sees are the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, UN, and Al Yeganev's soup place. Huh? That puts a whole new spin on history, doesn't it? So, y'all come to Raleigh for your ultimate New York experience and save a bundle.

Who knew a soup place could solve your romance dilemmas? Soupman offers a selection of smoothies for $4.95 with varying promises. The "Very Berry" with seasonal berries, banana and yogurt was billed as the 'anti-oxidant,' but there is also the "Buff Monkey" ('The Workout'), the "Maui Paui" ( 'The Lucky Charm') and, get this, the "Holy Moly" which is 'The Aphrodisiac.' The magical Holy Moly is made from"our own blend of aphrodisiac fruits and juices that is sure to make the blood flow." So get some lobster bisque for Seinfeld, but top it off with some smoothie inspiration.

When the Original SOUPMAN was opening in Raleigh, of course, I went. What's not to love? Good soup and funny memories of Seinfeld's characters annoying the "Soup Nazi," risking their lobster bisque soup. This Grand Opening in Raleigh included a raffle for a Soup Combo every day for LIFE (No, I did not win.) Cool tee shirts are definitely part of the fun: "So you think my soup is too expensive? Too bad. Life is tough and you get what you pay for," or "Tired of Waiting in line? Hit the other soup place. No one is there."
