Valley of the Gods Road heading south toward Highway 163 with Flag Butte in the center.
Commonly known as the little cousin of Monument Valley in northern Arizona, Valley of the Gods rests just to the north only a few miles up Highway 163 from the town of Mexican Hat, Utah just across the border. A 17 mile dirt road winds its way beginning at the southern entrance along Highway 163 and ending at its western entrance along Highway 261. Both highways converge just north of Mexican Hat. While the buttes and mesas aren't quite as large as in Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods definitely has its own appeal with its features easily leaving you in a state of appreciation for what Mother Nature is capable of. Given that it's also not quite as known as its more traveled, bigger cousin, there are also significantly less people, giving you a much higher chance of solitude in a place that was truly meant for such a thing.
