A local woman milks one of her mares in order to make kumis, a fermented milk beverage.

About this place:

A jailoo (pronounced jai-low) is a high mountain pasture where the Kyrgyz traditionally spent their summers. Many still do. This particular jailoo is located in the mountains just to the south of the small village of Kul-Tur, near the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.
