My best friend introduced me to the magical garden at Wild Side West. This Bernal Heights girl bar can be intimidating when you walk in but after I ordered a pear cider at the bar, I was led down the back steps into an eccentric green wonderland filled with hidden nooks and spaces to drink, chat and lounge. The gay, straight, whatever you are you are welcome atmosphere of the garden makes WSW a neighborhood favorite on a warm sunny day. You can also rent the BBQ here with a $25 deposit. We had a 40 person BBQ and the bar supplied all the utensils we needed to grill up a feast. This is a perfect stop if you're hiking up Bernal Hill for great views of the city.
