Outdoor seating area at The Getty in Los Angeles, Ca.

About this place:

The Getty Center is situated just off the the San Diego Freeway in the Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking Los Angeles, California and the Pacific Ocean. It opened in 1997 and was designed by lead architect Richard Meier (landscaping architect Laurie Olin). The center houses the Getty's collection of Western art from the Middle Ages to the present time. The architecture is stunning but the umbrellas are just as good. They are freely available as sun protection and lend the space the air of a modern Merchant Ivory film.

The Getty frequently has fantastic photography exhibits. On a clear day the views are amazing. From the moment I exited the tram, my mouth was hanging open at the beauty of the Architecture and Gardens. It is a wonderful way to spend an La afternooon.
