Place to see: Bodiam Castle, Robertsbridge, United Kingdom

About this place:

Built in 1385 possibly to protect the area against a French invasion, though probably also for show, Bodiam is a water castle surrounded on all four sides by a moat filled with large Koi. Bodiam is mostly a ruin on the inside thanks to the English Civil War, and was abandoned until the 1920's when it was given to the National Trust. My family lives nearby, and it was always the castle we would bring people to because it is what people think of when they think of a medieval castle. (it is also in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it's the "swamp castle.") It has pretty grounds as well as the usual gift shop and tea room.
