This saw mill is a replica of the saw mill owned by John Sutter in 1848. This is the place where gold was discovered in California which started the gold rush eventually leading to California's statehood. It is located in a very small town called Coloma and has many historical buildings and landmarks. It's a wonderful place to take the family, have a picnic, take a hike through the hills or wander around the various historical landmarks.
