I don't make it completely clean to the hot springs. Everywhere you look there are bat dumpings and the smell is overwhelming.

Route 46 was a major east-west throughfare before Interstate 80 was built, and Hot Dog Johnny's, which opened in 1944, is a pristine reminder of what roadside architecture and cuisine were like back in the day.
Altyn Arashan (Golden Spa in Kyrgyz) is a hot-springs hotel located in a high mountain valley above Karakol. Don't let the term "hot-springs hotel" fool you - this isn't your typical spa.

The idea of a day at the spa evokes images of pampered luxury; one certainly doesn’t think of lounging around inside of dank concrete sheds… unless one is thinking of the Altyn Arashan hot springs “spa” located just outside of Karakol, Kyrgyzstan.
